a glass of a mocktail with a straw and mint and lime slices

This mango mojito mocktail is the perfect refreshing beverage to enjoy this mango season. This vibrant and flavourful drink combines the tropical sweetness of mangoes with the freshness of mint and lime, offering a delightful twist on the classic mojito.

This non-alcoholic drink makes a delicious addition to your Summer BBQ menus, and of course, you can add some rum to make an alcoholic version if you prefer!

Why you’ll love this recipe

  • It’s quick and easy to prepare in just 15 minutes
  • It’s easily scaled up to serve at gatherings
  • It’s delightfully flavourful and refreshing
  • It features mangos! And we LOVE mangos (case in point: this creamy mango lassi)

What ingredients will I need?

  • Mangos. Of course! I highly recommend using kesar mangos – they have a bright orange flesh and unmatched flavour. You can find them in your local South Asian grocery store during mango season. And if you’re a mango fan, you’ll love my no-churn mango ice cream recipe too!
  • Limes. Make sure your limes are fresh.
  • Mint. Again, fresh mint is best.
  • Simple syrup. Simple syrup is easily prepared with sugar and water – I have included instructions in the recipe card below. And if you have any syrup leftover, you can use it to make these moreish pistachio croissants!
  • Sparkling water. This gives our mocktail a little fizz – you are welcome to use filtered still water instead if you prefer, but I highly recommend using sparkling water.

How to make a mango mojito mocktail step-by-step

As always, you can find the full recipe and instructions at the bottom of this blog post.

Peel your mangos and add the flesh to a blender along with the lime juice. Blend into a smooth puree (photo 1). You don’t need to strain the puree unless you have a low-power blender which has left some lumps in the puree.

To your serving glass (or in a large jug if you are scaling the recipe up), add the mint leaves and lime slices (photo 2). Use a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon to crush the mint + lime to release the flavours.

Add the mango puree and sugar syrup (to taste) to each glass. Top with lots of ice and sparkling water, and serve garnished with lime and mint!

How to make this recipe perfectly:

  1. Choose ripe mangoes. The key to a delicious mocktail is using ripe, juicy mangoes. They are sweeter and blend more smoothly, enhancing the overall flavor.
  2. Fresh mint leaves. Always opt for fresh mint leaves to get the best flavour. The minty aroma is crucial for that authentic mojito experience.
  3. Balance the flavours. Adjust the amount of lime and sweetness to suit your taste. Some may prefer a tangier drink, while others might prefer it sweeter.
  4. Serve with lots of ice. For the ultimate refreshing experience, serve your mango mojito mocktails over lots of ice!

Serving suggestions

  • Garnish the mocktails with lime, mint or even mango wedges to make them look pretty.
  • For a delicious twist, add some fresh ginger to the mango puree!
  • Serve alongside bruschetta, hummus, or a simple cheese board at your next gathering.
  • Serve in tall glasses or mason jars for a rustic feel, making it a hit at any summer party or BBQ!

FAQ

Can I use frozen mango instead of fresh?

Yes you can use frozen mangoes if fresh ones are not available. Just make sure to defrost them before blending to achieve the right consistency.

How can I make this mocktail sugar-free?

To make a sugar-free version use natural sweeteners such as maple syrup or agave syrup instead of the simple syrup, or omit the simple syrup entirely.

Can I add other fruits to this mocktail?

Absolutely! This mocktail is versatile, and you can experiment by adding other fruits like pineapple, strawberries, or even a splash of coconut water for a tropical twist.

How long can I store the mocktail in the fridge?

It’s best to consume the mocktail fresh for optimal flavor, but you can store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. If you’re preparing ahead of time then add the ice just before serving so it does not water down, and make sure to give the mocktail a good stir before serving.

The mango mojito mocktail is a delightful and refreshing drink that’s perfect for any occasion. Easy to make and full of flavor, this mocktail will undoubtedly become a staple in your summer drink repertoire.

Author: Shivani Raja

Ingredients

  • 1 Ripe Kesar Mango you can use other mango varieties if you prefer
  • 2 Limes fresh
  • 2 tbsp Mint Leaves fresh
  • 3 tbsp Granulated Sugar optional – see notes
  • 2 cups/ 480ml Sparkling Water
  • Ice to serve

Instructions

  • Prepare the simple syrup: add 3 tbsp sugar and 3 tbsp boiling water to a small saucepan over low-medium heat. Cook until the sugar has dissolved and the syrup is just starting to bubble, stirring frequently. Set aside to cool.
  • Peel the mango and add the flesh to the jug of a blender. Juice 1 of the limes and add the juice to the blender.
  • Blend the mango and lime juice into a smooth puree. You may wish to strain the puree if it has any lumps.
  • Slice the other lime into wedges and add the wedges to a large jug along with the mint leaves. Use a muddler or the back of a wooden spoon to crush the limes and mint to release their flavours.
  • Add the mango puree to the jug along with the simple syrup – I recommend starting with a small amount of simple syrup (1 tbsp) and adding more later if desired.
  • Top up the jug with sparkling water and give it a stir. Taste the mango mocktail and add more lime, mint or simple syrup if desired.
  • Serve the mango mojito mocktails over ice and garnished with extra mint and lime. Enjoy!

Notes

  • The sugar in this recipe is to prepare a simple syrup. This is an optional addition to the mocktail. You can also substitute natural sweeteners such as maple syrup or agave syrup if you prefer.
  • If you wish to prepare the mocktail ahead of time, follow all the steps except adding the ice, and refrigerate for up to 1 day before serving over ice.
